The challenge
The challenge was to create a music video that evokes emotion and enhances the song, without being too heavy or explicit. It needed to tell a story that could spark memories and flashbacks, allowing viewers to recognize themselves and bring their own experiences into it.
At the same time, it was about showing grief in a beautiful, intimate way not grand or dramatic, but through small moments, silences, and everyday gestures. This allowed the feelings and emotions of loss to come through, while the story still supported the emotion of the song.
My role
My role was to work together with Surinde, the artist, to turn her song into a story that really enhances the music and brings it to life. I shaped the whole thing from the concept and idea all the way to the final visuals. Grief isn’t shown in a big dramatic way, but in small, personal, everyday moments, in silence, and in all that’s left behind. This way, the story shows how loss feels and moves through you, while also letting the song’s emotion come through and giving people space to connect with it in their own way.
